Barely a Glimmer

There is a emptiness within, as though a broken window pane
or a home devoid of laughter and joy, silent
Just beyond lies a place of stillness and darkest shadow
that drowns the soul in woe unspoken, regretting
So heavy is the crushing weight as it keeps bearing down
cold as winter penetrating every pore, unyielding
It pulls and rages within, incredibly complete and consuming
leaving behind a jagged, salty numbness, alone
And yet, on the edge…as barely a glimmer
Something moves filled with light and freedom
Filling the windy once cold void with its warmth
He winks, as though a caress wrapped in roses
A gentle word of love whispered in warm breeze
He has gone ~ yet me his memory does remain
