ICE

Ice falls as crystal tears from heaven

Tinkling in rhythmic meter against window pane

Coating the trees and wires in sparkling glass

A frozen sculpture glistening does remain

Ice shines as gleaming shroud of light

Refracting in playful ways all it surrounds

Changing reality to shining fantasy in flight

A surreal yet chilling sense of wonder abounds

Ice covers as blanket liquid wrought

Smoothing the rippling lake as still-life

Moving something within me as it ought

Within my heart its silence eases strife

Ice melts as sunshine does erase

Softening the chilly picture as my mood

How sad life would be if stillness did replace

Our reality where all things can be renewed.
