Frost etches a pattern onto sunlit window pane

Creating an artwork as temporary as one’s life

Glistening and beautiful when untouched and pure

Growing less perfect as the day shares its strife

Snow casts a blanket onto frozen winter landscape

Embracing the earth with cold fleeting touch

Brightening and softening the once harsh gray world

Melting quickly as the suns heat grows too much

Rain washes a stream onto once arid parched earth

Showering a dusty worn place with its dewy gifts

Offering and giving rebirth to what was once withered

Drying up as suddenly as the soil downward sifts

Sun lights hopeful pathway across darkest woods

Awakening the sleeping brook, rock and tree

Promising safe passage through forest so deep

Setting with intent leaving only darkness to see
