News as unexpected as hailstorm in July
Arrives without warning and unwanted
Word that brings worry one cannot deny
Leaving ones faith shaken and daunted.
News as strange as eclipse at mid-day
Sent without warning and disbelieved
Word that offers reason to stop and pray
Making one feel they have been deceived.
News as surprising as spring without bloom
Comes without warning and leaves us unnerved
Word that tells of illness or doom and gloom
Leaving ones soul begging that life be preserved.
News as uncertain as sailing into stormy sea
Buffets without warning and leaves unsteady
Words that make us wait for an ending soon to be
Passing when it comes still finds us less than ready.
