Not Devoid

Empty – is not devoid of feeling

–but having felt too much to explain

–and refusing to feel more loss or pain

Lonely – is not devoid of company

–but touching only the topmost layer

–and failing to hold that closeness rare

Wanting – is not devoid of having

–but owning only that which is fleeting

–and reach out a hand yet never meeting

Needing – is not devoid of possessing

–but finding that which your soul has sought

–and knowing in the end it will come to naught

Failing – is not devoid of winning

–but losing what in the end meant so much

–and lamenting that it fell short of your touch.
