Gone Home

Shining as a beacon of golden light

gleaming as it warns the way

sparkling as it fills the night

soothing as it mirrors day.

Comforting as robe well worn

warming as it heals our ills

touching as it dulls the thorns

loving as with faith it fills

Fading to ash and dust return

wilting as his death arrives

failing strength shadows discern

take him quickly from our lives

Mourning loss far too soon gone

loosing as though ones self

weeping as last breath drawn

left with memories on the shelf

Searching the sky for his radiant light

wishing to feel his soul brush past

speaking to him as though here tonight

knowing he has gone home at last
