Not nearly strong as it wishes it could be –
wind and storm at whim twist and bend
yet it stands again the storm for all to see
refusing the storms rage it will defend.
The slender short frame not showing all-
rooted firmly its strength does hide inside
faced with such struggle it should simply fall
instead it clings to faith and chooses to abide.
As the seasons change new challenges assail-
choosing to bend instead of break its saving grace
it knows giving way by choice does not mean you fail
in fact the showing of such strength lets all save face.
So the willow new sprung bends yet still remains
though appearing fragile it never gives up its life
and within the soil more grace and strength it gains
in time a proud and stately tree grows out of the strife.
