wilted as flower bent low for want of water

wishing for rain to fall suffering ceasing

creases in the stem gaining shadows depth

bent stem’s desire for rebirth decreasing.

alone as young fox lost in desert parched

wish to find its way through fading into dust

steps growing slower want to continue abating

resting until dusk before continuing as he must

silent as firefly fluttering through darkness

seen but not heard invisible but for it’s light

trying to be unseen and pass barely noticed

preferring not to reveal the painfulness of its plight

blue as indigo splattered on white

its depth pulling the eye and the soul

seductive yet abhorrent brush strokes cover

but covered the surface remains less than whole
