Dancing together to lyrical tune duet sung,
spinning and twirling in haphazard steps
with the intensity of a love newly sprung.
Dancing together to familiar prose in tune,
holding and parting in perfectly counted time
with the comfort of a love reaching its June.
Dancing together to difficult changing score,
struggling and reaching trying to re-connect
with the fear of not knowing what love has in store.
Dancing together to old song they alone remember,
touching and holding they move slowly cheek to cheek
with the assurance of true love that has reached its December.
Dancing together to silence life ended in harmony,
laying still souls soaring above together free and unfettered
with the gratitude of a life well lived because you danced with me.
