Virtual means unreal, simulated, somehow pretend
and yet, we go again willingly into this place
of dots and dashes, endless invisible highway
choosing to chat with faceless strangers for hours.
Virtual means not actual, made up of nothing solid
and yet, we spend our free moments here
games or research, expanding our own reach
alluring far away places able to enter our homes.
Virtual means something different, not expected
and yet, these warm friendships feel so real
the words we share over seem to ring true
without judging on appearance, without prejudice.
Virtual reality, a coined phrase of contradiction
this is as real as you or I, as real as life
we put ourselves into this place each day
and we learn friends need no face, just love.
Reality ~ is perhaps ~ much more virtual?
